https://library.livermoreca.gov/events-services/event-calendarsLivermore Public Library invites the community to a thought-provoking Zoom program on AI language models. Join us for ChatGPT Unveiled: Understanding the Power, Risks, and Ethics of AI Language Models on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 6 p.m. This live Zoom event can be accessed at the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84171178999.
Presented by A.P. Anderson, MLS, Assistant Librarian in Research and Instruction at East Texas A&M University, this program will delve into the complexities of large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, which are designed to replicate human-to-human conversations. Anderson will explore how these technologies function while addressing critical risks, including privacy concerns, reinforcement of social biases, and environmental impact. Responsible use of these tools requires an understanding of their limitations, and this presentation aims to provide attendees with the knowledge needed to navigate the evolving AI landscape.
This program is part of the Livermore Reads Together 2025 series, which highlights themes of artificial intelligence and technology inspired by this year’s featured book, The Wild Robot by Peter Brown. The series is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Livermore Public Library.
