https://library.livermoreca.gov/events-services/event-calendarsLivermore Public Library will host a two-part Sculpting Workshop with Bay Area artist Stephanie Thames at the Civic Center Library on Saturday, Dec. 7 and Dec. 14, 2024, at 1 p.m. Stephanie Thames, M.A., is a ceramic artist born and raised in Illinois who has lived and created in Oakland, California for the past forty years. She began creating art in her youth and is mostly self-taught. Stephanie has exhibited in multiple, group shows in the Bay Area, as part of a two person show at Gearbox Gallery in Oakland, CA., and is a recipient of the 2019 Jan Hart-Shuyers Creative Merit Award, in conjunction with The Art of Living Black. She is an emerging painter and sculptor who is deeply rooted in spirituality, and currently creates in clay as part of her spiritual healing process. Stephanie earned her Masters of Spirituality and Culture from Holy Names University and has also studied Transpersonal Psychology. She hopes to fulfill her purpose by combining these studies, her abilities in the visual arts and her desire to help others heal using their innate creativity.
Participants will use a short, thought-provoking writing prompt to inspire their sculpting. Participants will be taught different methods of building and attaching air dry clay to organically create a sculpture piece they can take home.
Thanks to the support of the Friends of the Livermore Public Library, this event is free and open to the public. Participants must register for both workshops. For more information, please call 925-373-5505, or visit the Library’s website at library.livermoreca.gov.
